This was the first product of the Blueberry Bliss line that I tried. I wasn’t a big fan of edge controls when I started my transitioning journey, but it has came to be a necessity now. The Blueberry Bliss Control Paste is a heavy duty edge control because of its hold. It does a great job slicking back my natural stubborn hair. In comparison to my all time favorite Hicks Edges, it does a better job with slicking the hair back. I believe this is because Hicks Edges is more of a soft pomade, and not a gel which tends to be less heavy duty. The first con to this product is the finish it gives off. The edge control is definitely more like a gel so therefore it gives off that high shine look. Sometimes people rather it look natural and doesn’t give that “gel” look, but I this product does. One thing I instantly noticed is that the gel color is blue, which is different from your typical gels. This is also a con for me because sometimes instead of that white cast, it gives off a blue cast onto the hair. With thorough brushing, it can be avoided but it is not an instant fix. I often use this edge control, when it is WAY past wash day and my hair is uncontrollable. I am able to achieve sleek looks with this product on the dirty hair days.

Ratings and Comments:
I LOVE the hold of this product; it does not budge.
Some cons are:

  • It does give off a blue cast
  • Gives off that gel “high shine” look

I give this product a 4 out of 5.
