How it claims to work:
This super-concentrated, multi-tasking serum is infused with Mongongo Oil, known as “hair food” in Zambia for its high vitamin E content and superb regenerating and antioxidant properties. With American Palm Seed Oil and Broccoli Seed Oil, the formula restructures hair as it deeply repairs damage to restore a healthy appearance to even the dullest locks. By forming a protective film over the hair fibers, hair is instantly more manageable and has a natural, healthy-looking luster. It coats hair to protect against UV rays and environmental aggressors to help defend against damage. Further, it protects hair from aggressive heat styling and helps speed up drying time. Formulated without silicones, sulfates, parabens & waxes. FOR BEST RESULTS apply to palms and then disperse throughout hair. (Source: Ouidad.com)
This is the first oil from Ouidad, so I was completely new to any of their treatments. Although, I am particularly picky about oils. I consider several factors for an oil to be a “great oil”:
- Penetrates the hair shaft
- Doesn’t just sit on the hair
- Does a great job moisturizing all day or longer
- Helps prevent damage
Ouidad’s Mongongo Oil does each of those factors and well. The application is a spray, and not a pump so its more lightweight. I instantly noticed when I sprayed that it penetrates the hair well. When I used this oil, my hair was wet. I apply it before styling the night before and it helped seal in moisture. After my hair dried and was ready for the day, I spray additional oil to refresh and give hair more shine. I wouldn’t recommend spraying in your hands and then applying to your hair as suggested above. Sometimes with spray oils, you give better application by spraying directly on the hair. I didn’t experience my hair drying faster with this oil, although I didn’t look for that to happen. I rather the oil nourish my hair than help it dry faster (which I would think would dry the hair out). It gives my hair this great healthy gloss glow, that I love!
Ratings and Comments:
I would recommend this product to someone who needs a good universal oil. It does great with frizz, protecting, and sealing moisturizer.
I give this product a 5 out of 5.
